Sangeeta, 15, and her elder brother live with their grandparents in a thatched slum near the city of Coimbatore, in India. Their parents abandoned them when Sangeeta was three.
Sangeeta loved school, but following a beating from a teacher she dropped out, and had already missed a year of schooling when the Lebara Foundation first heard her story.
The Lebara Foundation paid for Sangeeta to attend another school near the slum, and also provided a uniform and books. Now Sangeeta loves school again, and enjoys a good relationship with her teachers.
