IFRC Flood Relief Project

The floods that hit Pakistan in the summer of 2010 were the worst in almost a century, and 1 million people remain displaced as a result. There are also around 1.7 million refugees in Pakistan – one of the largest populations of its kind in the world. Most are from Afghanistan, and live in refugee settlements and urban areas.

The Lebara Foundation helped to fund a project in 2010 in the flood-affected provinces of Khyberpakhtunkwa, Sindh, Punjab, Gilgit Baltistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir.

The project was delivered in association with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies in Pakistan and provided clean water, sanitation and shelter to a total of 105,000 families.
