Lebara Library

The Vanni area of northern Sri Lanka was decimated by the long civil war, denying thousands of children access to proper schooling. The Lebara Foundation recognizes that young people are the future of Sri Lanka, but that many lack the skills and knowledge needed by a modern society.

Normal schools are unable to fill this knowledge gap, which is why the Foundation has built a 14,500,000 rupee (€226,616) state-of-the-art library in the city of Kilinochchi.

The modern library will provide students with a comprehensive selection of electronic and printed texts in both Tamil and English, as well as a fully equipped multimedia classroom, two lecture halls, a language lab and media and IT facilities such as PCs, printers and copiers.
