Lebara to Sponsor Best Newcomer Award at 2011 MOBO Awards

- Lebara continues its headline sponsorship of the MOBO Awards and gets behind Best Newcomer category
- Lebara offers music fans a chance to be a VIP guest
Thursday 1 September 2011 – Lebara, the market leader in providing high quality, low-cost international mobile services from the UK is proud to continue its title sponsorship of the MOBO Awards which returns to Glasgow’s SECC on 5th October 2011. As part of its sponsorship activity, Lebara has launched an innovative new voting system in partnership with MOBO which gives music fans and Lebara customers the chance to vote for the Best Newcomer category via Facebook.
Fans will be able to cast their vote for the Lebara Best Newcomer on www.facebook.com/moboofficial to ensure their favourite artist takes the title. Once fans have voted for their favourite artist, they will be given the chance to enter an exclusive Lebara competition to win the chance to be a guest at the MOBO Awards by ‘liking’ the Lebara Facebook page and answering a simple multiple choice question. The winner will be drawn at random on Friday 30 September and they and one guest will be living it up with all the other VIPs at the MOBO Awards in October.
Fans will be able to cast their vote as often as once a day from a list of 10 nominees set to feature some of the hottest artists who have made their mark on the UK music scene in the past 12 months. The voting results will also be shown in real time on the Facebook page, giving fans a clear view of who is in the lead at any time which is sure to set the competition alight as fans rally behind their favourite artist.
This new development is a first for a UK Awards ceremony, and Lebara is proud to be associated with this innovative new voting system. The voting will remain open until the live broadcast of the MOBO Awards show on 5th October where the winner will be revealed. The remaining categories will be voted for by the public via MOBO.com.
Russell Atkinson, Managing Director of Lebara UK commented: “Lebara is extremely proud of its partnership with the MOBO Awards and we are honoured to sponsor the Best Newcomer Category for the first time this year. Lebara is passionate about inspiring future talent within the music industry.”
Kanya King MBE, CEO and founder of the MOBO Awards comments: “The addition of the Facebook category will add even more excitement to the night - it is a first for MOBO as all previous awards have been hosted on www.mobo.com but we want to mix things up and move with the times. It will be great to see the fans get behind their favourite Best Newcomer this way and it is fantastic that Lebara, the headline partner for the MOBO Awards are sponsoring this category.”
