Lebara 10 Year Anniversary Charity Campaign

- Lebara will donate 1 million euros to help educate over 100,000 vulnerable children in 10 countries -
Monday 1 August 2011 – Today Lebara, one of Europe’s leading telecoms operators for migrant communities, is proud to announce a new charity campaign due to begin on Monday 1 August in all of Lebara’s eight markets globally.1 As part of the company’s 10 Year Anniversary plans, Lebara will donate 1 million euros to help educate over 100,000 disadvantaged children in 10 countries around the world.
Lebara will celebrate its 10th Anniversary in September this year and to mark this significant milestone the company is committed to giving something back to the countries where Lebara customers have family and friends. In partnership with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), Lebara will support and provide much-needed education and protection measures to over 100,000 children in need around the world. Lebara has for a number of years supported education projects for displaced children in India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka through the Lebara Foundation, a separate not-for-profit organisation set up by Lebara in 2005.
For a three month period, Lebara will donate a percentage from customer top-ups in every market to UNHCR and IFRC projects. 2 One hundred percent of the funds raised will go towards the education of children in need in each of the following countries: Colombia, Ghana, India, Morocco, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines, Poland, Romania and Turkey. The Lebara Foundation is the non-profit, philanthropic arm of the LEBARA Group, which contributes a portion of its profits to the Foundation. The Foundation establishes partnerships with key agencies to deliver high-quality services for children who are affected by conflict and poverty.
