London, UK, 3 January 2013 – Lebara, one of Europe’s leading mobile telecoms operators for foreign nationals has launched a new mobile site (M-Site) for customers in the UK. As well as providing high-quality, low cost national and international calling, data and related services, Lebara is now one of the first mobile telecoms operators in the UK to offer its customers the convenience of topping-up direct from their mobile phone and checking their balance.
With 13% of all internet traffic now generated through mobile devices and with more phones than people in the UK currently1., it is more important than ever to provide the most convenient tools to meet the customer’s ever evolving needs.
“In the not so distant future, checking a balance, topping-up, transferring money abroad, adding credit, or insuring a loved one via your mobile phone will be the norm.” said David Moffatt, Chief Executive Officer, Lebara Group. “Already one in five customers is visiting lebara.co.uk via their mobile phones and we know this trend is only going to increase. This is why we have developed a mobile site to help customers, by offering the convenience of checking balances on the move as well as topping-up at the touch of a button.
“The M-Site is part of our wider commitment at Lebara to revolutionise the customer experience across the mobile telecoms industry. We are looking to challenge established business models, keeping pace with changing customer behaviours. Our new M-Site is just the first step on a journey that will redefine the way in which customers interact with our business and benefit from our services.”
The new Lebara M-Site was developed by Infosys, a global leader in consulting and technology. It is built on the HTML5 platform, making it compatible with all mobile devices, - basic feature phones as well as smartphones and tablets. This means 100% of Lebara customers will benefit from this new service tool; being able to automatically check their balance, or top-up securely using a pre-registered credit card or voucher purchased from

one of Lebara’s retail partners. It is even possible to top-up a friend or family member’s phone on their behalf.
Lebara SIM cards and top-ups are available through a wide distribution network of over 100,000 outlets across the UK; including The Carphone Warehouse, Phones4U, Asda, Tesco and WHSmith. As well as market-leading national and international rates for talking, texting and mobile internet, Lebara offers award-winning customer service, and high network quality through its Vodafone partnership in the UK.
The Lebara M-Site is accessible through the following URL: http://m.lebara.co.uk.The following ‘How to’ video demonstrates how to access Lebara’s Mobile Website and how to use the key features such as checking balances and topping up: http://youtu.be/h0hJClZsyHY.

Notes to editors:
The HTML5 platform automatically recognises a customer’s MSISDN (if they are using the 3G network and not Wi-Fi), making it quick and easy to access balance information and top- up facilities conveniently. It also supports ‘Remember Me’ and can store data locally so that balances can be cached to improve the speed of response from the site to the customer. Customers are able to create a widget that looks like an application icon on the desktop of their mobile phone or tablet. Importantly, the HTML5 platform also means that Lebara can market the M-Site to its customers directly rather than being dependent on a third party to do so.
